Departmental History

  The department was started in the year 1996 and was affiliated to Kuvempu University from 1996-1998. Now the department is affiliated to VTU Belgaum. The department has an intake of 30 students. It has highly qualified and experienced teachers with reputation in their areas of specialization. The department offers a full time B.E. Degree course in Environmental Engineering field and has been excelling in activities for the past eight years. Apart from conducting academic programmes, seminars, workshops, training programmes are conducted for students, as well as for faculty members. A number of consultancy works are also being carried out. The department has signed ‘MoU’ with few leading consultants and companies to develop institution industry interaction for the benefit of students.

  To achieve excellence in education, entrepreneurship and innovation by producing engineers with high ethical standard, integrity and credibility.

Infrastructure

The Department has laboratory facilities for environmental processing, in addition to a well-established extensive Laboratory to meet the futuristic demands of industry. The laboratories lean largely on development to bring the state of the art technologies to all the students. It has well equipped laboratories with all requirements. The following lab facilities are included in the department:

Library

The department has a separate library housing a large number of books and magazines on Environmental Engineering. In addition to the books and magazines a huge number of International and Indian journals on Environmental Engineering have been included. Apart from these all kinds of newspapers and magazines are available.

Academic Strength

The department has strong Academic Capabilities. It has 1 professor, 1 visiting professor, 2 Sr lecturers and 3 lecturers with more than 60% of the faculty with 15 years of experience. The student faculty ratio stands at 7:1.The department has secured 6 ranks under both Kuvempu University and VTU. The results of the students of the department are consistently good.
