Department Profile

  The department of Computer Science and Engineering came into being in 1986 with the objective of producing highly skilled software professionals. The department was under the affiliation of Mysore University from 1986 to 1992 and under Kuvempu University from 1992 to 1997. Currently the department is under the affiliation of Visveshwaraiah Technological University. The department has an intake of 120 students. The B.E. course in CS&E is a full time course spread over 8 semesters. The course enables students to develop professional skills through study and practical work. The students are allowed to choose electives from the list of thrust area subjects like Distributed Computing, Unix System programming, Linux internals, Client Server Technology and etc. The department has secured 9 ranks since its inception.

INTERNET FACILITY

  Internet Facility: Department is providing Internet Leased Line Bandwidth from Bharti and 2Mbps leased line service from TULIP IT Services Ltd to the students and staff

SEMINAR HALL
  Air conditioned seminar hall with seating capacity of 60, LCD projection system and good sound system is housed in the department.

EDUSAT

  EDUSAT- This is an e-learning program started jointly by V.T.U. and ISRO. The institute is recognized as one of the nodal center for the programmer. This e-learning center is managed by the department.

DEPARTMENTAL LIBRARY

  The department has a separate library housing a large number of books and magazines on Computer science and technology. Every student is allowed to borrow one book at a time and can retain it for a maximum period of 15 days and should return it on or before the due date on any working days.

STUDENT COUNSELING

  Student counseling is a continuous process carried out in the department. Each teacher is assigned 15 to 20 students whose academic progress is closely monitored and communicated to their parents after every term test and university examination. Students are encouraged to discuss their personal and career problems with their counselors. There is also group counseling.
